classroom
procedures
Classroom procedures help create a structured, respectful, and productive learning environment where everyone can succeed. They ensure that lessons run smoothly, students stay engaged, time is used effectively, and everyone remains SAFE!
Why Must Students Follow Procedures
Respect & Responsibility – Following procedures shows respect for the teacher, classmates, and the learning space.
Efficiency – Clear routines help minimize disruptions and keep the focus on learning.
Fairness & Safety – Procedures ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate and feel comfortable in class.
Better Learning – When expectations are clear, students can concentrate on improving their skills without confusion or distractions.

By respecting and following classroom procedures, students contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment where everyone can thrive!
entrance procedures
-
Use the entrance door to the classroom. If the door is closed, line up along the lockers and wait patiently until the door is open. ** There is no time in between classes which means that students are rushing in and out of classrooms. To prevent injuries, we have assigned in and out doors. **Do not bang on the doors, do not shake the doors and shout at me to open the doors. If the door is closed, this means I am not ready to receive students.

-
Enter the classroom in a quiet and orderly manner. **Do not enter the classroom shouting, slamming objects down, or throwing objects.

-
Turn in your homework neatly on the table. **Do not show up halfway through the day to hand in work, do not interrupt me teaching other classes to hand in work, do not throw your work in a heap.

-
Sit in your seat quietly and wait for instruction.

snacks
I understand what it is like to be without, and it is my pleasure to help when and where I can—it is part of who I am as a person. That’s why I provide snacks for those who are hungry.
However, I ask that students follow these simple expectations:

Ask before you take.
Take only what you need.
Be mindful of others—leave some for those who may also need it.

Unfortunately, these snacks have been raided, and many students are taking more than their share.
This is not fair to others who may truly need them.

we are a community
As a classroom and as a school we are a community.
Students are asked to behave as one.

“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
– African Proverb
JUST BE KIND
Although I cannot change the term idiot used by Gov. Pritzker in his commencement speech, the point here is kindness.
I simply ask for kindness in my classroom.
