Le Radical
In French, verbs are made up of two essential parts:
Le radical (the root/stem) - This is the unchanging base of the word. To find the radical in verbs ending in -ER we simply remove the -ER ending which gives you the radical (root)

Examples:
Parler (to speak) - Parl-
Aimer (to love/ like) - Aim-

La terminaison (the ending) - This changes based on the subject and tense
Why Is this important?
Le radical gives the verb its meaning (mang- in manger means to eat)
La terminaison tells us who is doing the action and when it happens (Je mange vs. Nous mangons)
