Le Radical
In French, verbs are made up of two essential parts:
Le radical (the root/stem) - This is the unchanging base of the word. To find the radical in verbs ending in -IR we simply remove the -IR ending which gives you the radical (root)
Examples:
Finir - Fin-
Choisir - Chois-
Grandir - Grand-

La terminaison (the ending) - This changes based on the subject and tense
Why Is this important?
Le radical gives the verb its meaning (fin- in finir means to end/finish)
La terminaison tells us who is doing the action and when it happens (Je finis vs. Nous finissons)

Example with Finir
